Blyth Rugby Club are delighted to announce that thanks to the generous support of Northumberland County Council through the Community Chest Scheme, we have been able to make plans to replace the rugby posts on our pitch at our Plessey Road site.
The posts were damaged in high winds last year and an urgent solution was needed to allow Youth and Senior Rugby to continue.
A new set of modern 13m aluminium hinged rugby posts has been ordered and will be delivered in early September. Volunteers at the club will install the posts which will allow us to continue the program of improvements and upgrades at our community rugby club.
Subject the planning permission approval, the next phase of improvements will be the upgrade of the rugby pitch floodlights to modern LED's which will dramatically reduce our future energy use, and the installation of new floodlights on our Youth pitch/training areas.
Significant maintenance work has been undertaken on our rugby pitch during the summer months with future plans to install improved drainage solutions.
